It’s been a while…

5 months to be exact!

I’m living for autumn rn!

Why did I stop blogging? Well, mainly because I just wasn’t feeling it. But at the same time I feel like a lot has happened in the past few months which means I’ve felt like I’ve not had the time.

Now, though, I’m hoping to get back into it and try to post more regularly, but without restricting myself to schedules and the like as it’s pretty exhausting! I’ve given my blog a bit of a makeover which I’ll be working on leading up to Christmas and I might even consider taking part in Blogmas this year, all being well!

So, what have I been up to over the past 5 months?

If you’ve been following me on Twitter, you’ll know that a major thing happened in July – I passed my driving test!
After seven years of procrastination, anxiety and excuses, I finally said enough was enough and had been taking driving lessons since February which meant I successfully passed first time on the 24th July with only 3 minors. The whole experience is a blog post in itself which I will share soon, but I overcame one of the biggest hurdles in my life and am now fully independent – and it feels great!

In addition to the driving, I’ve also become an Aunty!

I hadn’t announced this before as it was all a bit of a whirlwind, but my younger sister had the most beautiful baby boy at the end of September and I could not be more proud of her. Cue being asked a million times over if my sister becoming a mum ‘makes me want one’ (spoiler: it does not) – but I am genuinely happy for her and her new little bean.

I got to attend the Brighton SEO conference…

…(which inconveniently happened at the same time my sister had the baby) and it was so much fun. Brighton is the most colourful, interesting place I have been to in the UK and I had an amazing experience and learned so much.
It’s all tied into my new digital marketing position at work which I was moved over to full time at the start of September, and I could not be happier.

I’m finally working in a role where I’m able to develop my skills, learn so much and actually grow into a career. Exciting stuff!

I have also been going to the gym!

‘Are you serious?!’ I hear you scream. Why yes, yes I am. While I have had a slight blip in routine for the past couple of weeks, with the baby and the trip to Brighton and what-not, I have been going and actually enjoying it! It’s all part of my attempts to manage my stress and anxiety a little better, and I have to admit it’s helping a lot more than I ever expected it to. I’m full of energy and feel so much stronger. I’ve got a long way to go before I see any progress in the body image department, but I’m so proud of the fact I’ve finally managed to commit to going!

Speaking of managing stress and anxiety… part of my ‘plan’ – if you could call it a plan – I have also come off my contraceptive pill and it’s honestly the best thing I think I could’ve done for my mind and body. You might recall a few months ago, the pill was centre of the media’s attention for a while and it brought up a lot of questions around the side effects that many doctors weren’t discussing with the women taking them. At the time, it made me realise that I had no idea what my natural hormone cycle was like or what I was even like without pumping my body full of hormones as I had done for the past 7 years. I’ll definitely be writing a post on the whole experience, it was a scary decision, but I can tell you I am so much happier now I’m not taking that little white pill every morning!

And, finally…

We won’t quite get back to 2010..

…The Emo Phase is back (like it ever left). Since going to the gym I’ve been listening to a lot more music than I used to and fallen in love with my old favourites all over again. Cue leather jackets, all the eyeliner and listening to Three Cheers on repeat while feeling devastated that I never got to see them live. I can dream, but in the meantime if anyone has any recommendations to add to my playlist or even go and see live – I’m desperate to go to a gig again! – then please leave a comment or tweet me your favourites!

So that’s my update. Hopefully you’ll be seeing some posts in the next couple of weeks expanding on the topics above, but in the meantime give me a follow on Twitter (and I’m also on Instagram, though I’ve given up fighting the algorithm!)

Until next time!
